The mission of Westfield Washington Schools is to ensure high levels of learning and growth for all students. To support this mission, the Monon Trail Elementary School needed to find a more efficient method for heating and cooling their building.
After performing investigative research into the building’s current heating and cooling systems, it became obvious that it would be a challenge to find the right solution based on the site conditions. A geo-thermal ground loop system was proposed for the mechanical and plumbing components of the building. The school would be a prototype for future applications of the ground loop system.
MNA designed a geo-thermal ground loop system for the building’s heating, cooling and plumbing needs. Vertical closed-loop wells were installed to provide the ground source heating and cooling. The project was successfully completed, and the prototype could be used for future installations on other buildings in the district.
