Purdue University lacked SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) spaces on campus where classified or sensitive information could be processed, stored, or discussed. Previously, any research, conversations, or data processing had to be brought to other sites. The goal of this project was to bring these functions and operations to campus.
The facility was designed as a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) and was a renovation to an existing building. Project design had to comply with the Department of Defense requirements under the authority of the National Security Act of 1947 while working around existing infrastructure and the active building.
MNA provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design for the creation of 7,000 sq ft. of space to support research activities in a secure office and laboratory environment.
