Hamilton County – Silos at 37 – Masterplan

The Need

Hamilton County is home to the first Indiana 4-H Club and the facilities have provided many youth and family educational opportunities while serving as a gathering place for community functions for several years. The facilities are considered a showpiece for the county and representatives needed to enhance the pedestrian experience, expand event capabilities and maximize facility use.

THE CHALLENGE

The $64 million project would be a huge endeavor with the improvements encompassing 44 acres while being completed over a three-year proposed timeline. Since the fairgrounds had not been updated in 25 years, many of the structures needed extensive renovations and re-design combined with elements of new construction. Representatives desired a specific aesthetic for the grounds that would keep the focus on community, education and functionality.

The Solution

MNA provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing services for the project’s masterplan that included:

  • New 19,500 SF life sciences show arena with storable bleacher seating and a multi-purpose floor
  • Upper-level rooms with full arena views (also used as rentable suites during show events)
  • Anchor building with approximately 123,000 SF of space
  • Office finish upgrades
  • Construction of two, 12,000 SF pre-engineered structures with operable exterior sides
  • New 9,600 SF swine barn
  • New restroom facilities in llama barn
  • New convertible/portable classrooms
  • New covered, hard-surface walkways
  • New, full roof covering for the horse arena with open sides

Hamilton County representatives were highly satisfied with the project results which MNA helped them to achieve through trusted partnership and open collaboration.
