Hamilton County 4H Fairgrounds Study

The Need

The Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds is a multi-use facility that provides a wide range of commercial, educational and community focused opportunities with Central Indiana’s expansive farm STEM economy. Part of their mission is to provide an intergenerational ‘center of gravity’ to educate, inspire and connect.

THE CHALLENGE

To meet the needs of the growing community, County representatives wanted to enhance the pedestrian experience on the 44-acre fairgrounds site. An expanded event capabilities concept would enable a wider range of events for both smaller workshops and large exhibitions by converting seasonal structures into all-season spaces. For such a large space, it was critical to incorporate feedback from several sources to maximize facility utilization.

The Solution

MNA developed a master plan for the fairgrounds and incorporated extensive input from both stakeholders and volunteers during the process. As a result, the recently razed exhibition buildings were replaced with a 7,000 square foot Bicentennial Pavilion that serves as a focal point for the fairground’s activities. MNA provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and architectural services as well as site utilities coordination services. The County representatives were highly satisfied with the project’s results.
