A pharmaceutical client harnesses the power of biotechnology, chemistry and genetic medicine while urgently advancing science to solve some of the world’s most significant health challenges. The company needed to expand production which included adding two coating pans within approximately 6,500 sf of space.
The tablet coating process is challenging and complex and includes the installation of specialized equipment including a process air handling unit and a dust collection system while maintaining ISO-8 compliance. Access to purified water, a vacuum system and compressed air for instruments also had to be considered while designing the space.
MNA provided mechanical, electrical, and process engineering design services to accommodate the two additional coating pans. The project included clean rooms and plant utilities of purified water, vacuum and air for instruments. The project also included the installation of a process waste system including holding tanks, pumps, and controls. The clean room uni-directional airflow system incorporated HEPA terminal filters and low-level exhaust. The project achieved ISO-8 at rest compliance and the customer was with the project outcomes.
