Cardinal Health is a global healthcare services and products company providing customized solutions for hospitals, healthcare systems, pharmacies, ambulatory surgery centers and clinical laboratories. Cardinal Health representatives needed to expand their nuclear medicine production facilities with upgraded equipment and capabilities.
The new construction required due diligence to ensure that the new areas could be streamlined into the existing facility’s structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The newly designed area would have to include two separate suites with hot cells, material preparation areas, a clean corridor, a CNC corridor, equipment platform, and it would also require integrating an existing autoclave into the space. In addition, the areas would need to be ISO-8 certified cleanrooms.
MNA provided detailed design of the construction documents. An analysis was provided of the joist loading conditions as well as verification of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and equipment loading conditions. Airflow and instrumentation diagrams were provided for the HVAC systems that service these suites. The result was a solution that met the hospital’s needs, and they were very satisfied with the project’s outcome.
