SMC Corporation of America is a comprehensive manufacturer of components for automation, controls and process industries. As a growing leader in the pneumatic technology industry, the company needed a new clean room space for testing and assembling materials to be constructed within a larger warehouse.
The project had to be designed according to ISO 5 classification requirements to support a highly controlled environment regarding air particle limits, temperature, humidity and airflow. Since the project’s location was within an existing facility, stringent system requirements presented a set of unique challenges.
MNA developed the architectural layout for the clean room and designed a mezzanine space for the air handling units which made efficient use of the room. Fan filtration units provide recirculation and filtration while air handling units, electric heating coils and chilled water coils provide outdoor air to condition the individual rooms. A new, centralized chilled water system with air-cooled chillers was installed to provide a temperature-controlled environment.
