Nuvotronics is a leading microelectronics provider of high performance mmWave and RF devices for high frequency applications in defense, space communications and test and measurement. They needed to expand production by adding a 14-inch square substrate. This required building out approximately 18,500 sf of unfinished space into a manufacturing clean room production area for microelectronics.
The challenge was that all new systems were going to be added into the current space rather than expanding the existing utilities that were supporting the current 8-inch round substrate process. To accommodate the new mechanical systems and electrical distribution, a second floor would have to be built within the 18,500-sf existing space.
The final iteration was a single, large clean room designed to comply with ISO 7 requirements. New electrical, mechanical, and process utilities were added to support the new production equipment without interrupting the operation of the existing 8-inch production line. Based on MNA’s conceptual drawing and budget deliverables, the solution involved dividing the area into five separate rooms, each with varying requirements for filtration, temperature and humidity controls. This solution achieved the customer’s production goals and objectives with full satisfaction.
